proposal story. finally.

On August 18, 2012, I was asked the easiest question i ever have had to answer. The famous question "Reagan, will you marry me?" How it all went down? i'll explain.
*keep in mind, when jared had asked me how i wanted to be proposed to i gave him some "suggested guidelines" to follow:
1- nothing lame
2- nothing super cliche
3-something i will always remember
4-not at the temple
Earlier that week Jared and i had picked out a ring, and Zales had told me they could get it here by Friday but probably not till Saturday or Sunday. Needless to say i was anxious. I bugged Jared (polietly) every day about how he was going to propose or when it was really going to happen. I was stubborn and wanted to know when it was so i could make sure i looked really cute. that was the plan anyway. little did i know he had something else in mind. Saturday morning rolled around and i started to give up. maybe the ring really wouldn't be here until next week. maybe he was trying to trick me. maybe he still didn't know how he would propose and was going to do something lame.
i was frustrated.
so instead, i sent jared a text that day asking him what our plans were for that night. we decided after a long day of work that shopping at the chandler mall and a movie would suffice. (sounded like a great date night to me). i came home from work, showered, got dressed in what i would say was quite the cute outfit, and headed over to my sister meredith's. I was in charge of taking taylor to a birthday party, and could not be late :) as i was driving, jared called. and this, and only this was our conversation:
jared: "hi babe. i am only going to say this once so listen. i'll be there in 30 minutes. make sure you wear something smokin hot. bye!"
Me: "ARE YOU KIDDING ME? JARED, ANSWER ME NOW. WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT???"
after much frustration that he had already hung up, i called my best friend beka who i knew had been in on this whole thing. i told her what he said, and that i was not going anywhere until i knew exactly what to wear and what we were doing. (okay, so my stubborn side might have come out just a little bit more). she called him, found out some details, and came back with this:
Beks: "alright reagan, he is taking you to a super nice resturant, so you should probably wear a dress and some killer heels. that's all i know."
Me: "but i haven't even shaved my legs. ugh why is he doing this what the heck!"
Beks: "he wanted to suprise you without you worrying about it all day. i think it's cute. now go. shave. and let me know if something sparkly appears on your finger tonight!"
Me: "okay, i'll let you know. and hopefully i'll cheer up before then. gotta go. bye!"
(i promise i really am not a brat, i just hate surprises. hate them).

so i headed into the ferrins house, scrambled to find a rasor and shaving cream, and sat in their tub shaving my legs (all while FREAKING out) before we headed out for the night. after i took taylor to her party, i drove home to see jared waiting for me. He looked so good (button up shirt and slacks) but i was still not too happy. i still had to change into something nice and play along like i was totally fine with this idea. little did i know i would be.

fast forward about 20 minutes.
we rode in slater (his car) out to Top of the Rock, a super nice resturant that overlooks south mountain. We ate the best food i think we both have ever had, and i enjoyed watching jared scramble for things and tryed to figure out why he was being so awkward. We then headed to Tempe Town Lake, which is quite the significant spot for us. we walked along the bridge and stopped right in the middle. as we turned to overlook the lake, i kept admiring all the beauty. at this point jared was probably super nervous, but i still had no idea. as i turned to my right to look at him, i saw this GIANT 10x20 foot sign (2 king size sheets sewed together with red vinyl lettering on it) that said "MARRY ME REAGAN". I screamed. he was on his knee, said some of the sweetest things to me, and after jumping up and down and freaking out a bit, i said yes. i was so excited.

the big question...

so excited. ahhhhhh

the after shot

and of course, a kissing one.

We are getting married on Thursday, November 29 for time and all eternity in the Mesa, Arizona temple. Jared really is the perfect guy for me and all I could ever want. He inspires me to do everything and always makes me feel so loved and important. He really is such a gentleman and I cannot wait for him to be my husband. He is going to be such a great spouse and one day father. I love him and cannot wait to spend eternity with him.

They always say, "falling in love with your best friend is the best feeling ever." I never thought it was true, until I met jared. And now, it's even better to fall more and more in love with him every day.
